One of the biggest things people overlook is the amount of influence they have. It only takes one person to change someone’s life for better or worse. Each and everyday, with each interaction, people literally hold the power to build one another up or tear each other down. We are people, but people are a lot like wet paint. What does that does that mean?
We are Malleable
Paint changes shape, color, and texture. People are no different. We change everyday as a result of our experiences, interactions, or circumstances. We become a blend of those we interact with most and we mix with others as we go about our daily activities. We are malleable, with even the most rigid personalities being capable of change. Our ability to change is one of the most beautiful things about the world we live in. It is our responsibility to be aware of this malleability.
We Mix with Others
Understanding that we are malleable is one thing, but we must also be aware of how we mix with others. When mixing paint you can create new hues, values, tints, or shades. As we mix (interact) with others we create hues, values, tints, and shades on a daily basis. All it takes is one drop of red in yellow to make orange and another drop of white or black to create a shade. Our interactions with others do are no different. Through those interactions we can create something beautiful or we can decimate the balance of a composition by adding the wrong color or shade at the wrong time. The point I’m making is that we are rubbing off on others all the time and others rub off on us. We are wet paint.
As wet paint, each and everyone of us can change those around us. By changing those around us we are changing our world…even when we are not aware of it. We are leaders. ALL OF US. Remember, someone is watching, someone is taking notes, and you are rubbing off on this world just like wet paint. So please, be sure to help make the composition as beautiful as possible. It’s contagious…I promise.
Happy painting.
